Mentoring Program
The goal of the Mentoring Program of the Faculty of Sciences is to provide students with personalized support. If you feel stuck in your studies, stressed, or in need of other kinds of help, you can reach out to a mentor teacher or mentor student from your major.
Feel free to contact us if:
- you feel lost in academic administration,
- you have difficulties with your studies or exams,
- you need motivation and support.
Our mentors
Dr. Katalin Ősz – head of the Mentoring Program
Since 2022, I have been the Vice Dean for Educational Affairs at the Faculty of Sciences, and I am a chemist by training. Although I have only been working at the University of Pécs since 2018, I bring more than 25 years of higher education experience from the University of Debrecen (Hungary) and Iowa State University (USA). Students from any field of science are welcome to contact me — I will either help answer your questions directly or connect you with a colleague who can.

Boglárka Tóth– mentor student.png)
Hi! My name is Bogi and I am a third-year Hungarian biology student and international student representative of the Student Council. During my first year of university I realized how hard it was for international newcomers to get used to this new life and all the challenges that come with it. My goals are to blunt the initial hardships, answer your questions regarding your studies, help you find solutions to any issue you might have, let it be personal, social or academic.
Feel free to contact me if you feel lost (but not sure who you could turn to), feel burnt out, have any questions or if you want to get more out of your studies outside the curriculum. I will try to help to the best of my ability.

Ildikó Jenák– mentor teacher– Institue of Mathematics and Informatics
I have been teaching at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics for over a decade, but I also studied here earlier, so I have experienced first-hand, both as a student and as a lecturer, the challenges one may face during university years. I believe it is essential that our students not only progress professionally but also receive the stability, support, and encouragement necessary for successfully continuing their studies and maintaining everyday balance. Over the years, I have supervised more than a hundred theses and supported many students with remedial teaching, study skills counselling, or simply through conversations. Since the academic year 2025, as the instructor of the Learning Methodology course, I have also had the opportunity to directly support students in their learning processes. As a mentor, I can now continue this supportive work in an official capacity, accessible to all students of the Institute. Through my own experiences – as a neurodivergent lecturer and a former student myself – I know well what it feels like to struggle with “invisible obstacles” and how much it matters to have someone to turn to. As a trained teacher, I find it important to provide not only professional knowledge but also human support, and I trust that I can offer useful guidance to those who need it.
